OUR SUPPORT STAFF
I am beginning my fifth year as Registrar at LASA. Prior to working for AISD, I spent 12 years as a Registrar in higher education. I love being a part of a student's educational path and watching their hard earned credits grow from their freshman to senior year. But the best part is handing them their high school diploma as they walk across the stage for the final time.
I have lived in South Austin since 2000 previously having lived in California, New Mexico, Colorado and Washington State. My son, daughter in law and two grandsons live in San Francisco, CA and my daughter, son in law and two granddaughters live in Keller, TX.
I enjoy spending time with my family and taking long unplanned road trips. Oh, and a fun fact is that in 1967 my family was featured in a full page Maytag washing machine advertisement in Life Magazine!!!!
Bookkeeper (finances, not textbooks!)
I started working with LASA in 2007 when my oldest was a Sophomore. I edited the Lots of LASA newsletter for the first several years. I thought I was joking the first year when I told the principal it would be easier if I worked on campus... And then he offered me a job :) My two students graduated LASA in 2010 & 2012 -- and I am still here!
I spent 2 years as Guidance Secretary/Receptionist, 4 years as Principal's Secretary and this starts my 8th year as a bookkeeper!
When I am not wrangling the budget and purchasing supplies, I love to run away to the mountains. I'm not even very picky about which mountains... Hiking beautiful wooded trails, reading or knitting on the front porch and watching the deer, birds and occasional woodchuck wander by is my idea of the perfect vacation.
Originally from Detroit Michigan. Attended Macomb County Community College in Warren, Michigan, where I earned my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. I then attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia while my Marine husband served at HMX-1 (The Presidential Helicopter Squadron). I was fortunate enough to attend many White House events including Christmas parties and Easter Egg rolls during Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush presidencies. Worked for Darden Restaurants for 28 years as a Red Lobster Manager before retiring. After 2 years (in 2009), I decided retirement wasn't for me and started working for Austin ISD as a Cafe manager. I have been here at LASA/LBJ ever since and I love it! I have lived in 7 states, visited 49 - Alaska - don't fear - I'm coming!
Born Josefin Lundgren in Stockholm, Sweden, Ms. Koerth graduated from Stockholm University with a Bachelor's Degree in English (focus on Literature) and one in Cinema Studies.
In Sweden, her career was in film and television. She worked mainly as a 2nd AD/Extras Coordinator on crime dramas (Sweden's main export!) such as Arne Dahl, 100 Code, and Modus.
She once shared an office with Dominic Monaghan of Lost and Lord of the Rings fame. (Where she proceeded to pronounce his name wrong for an entire work day before he gently corrected her.)
In 2014, she married the love of her life (the other Ms. Koerth!) and started the immigration process to move to the US.
In December of 2015, she finally received her entry visa and was able to move to Austin, TX.
Her first job in the US was technically a call center where she worked as a "legal advisor" and settled a couple of cases out of court for $12.50/hr.
Her second U.S. job was as the library clerk at LASA. From there, she moved into the LASA main office as the new receptionist, and then finally to her current position as Principal's Secretary.
She lives with her wife, a dog (Bear), and too many cats (Danny, Mr. Darcy, and Bucky).
Born here in the great city of Austin, TX. Worked for State Farm Insurance for 25 years. I started with AISD in 2018.
Married for 34 years to love of life Montyne Ockleberry we have three children James Jr. , Nicole, Ebony and three grandkids Skylar, Witten, Bryson.
I'm huge Pittsburgh Steelers and Texas longhorn fan, love to fish, and spend time with family.
Activity Fund Bookkeeper
I grew up in San Antonio, Texas (home of the best tacos!) and have lived in Austin for almost 6 years. I worked in banking for several years before coming to LASA in 2019.
I love watching classic movies, British TV (I’m obsessed with Downton Abbey) and cheering on the Houston Texans. I enjoy traveling, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
I am a mom of two and am a proud LASA parent! I have lived in Austin for 10 years. Before that, I grew up in NH and lived in Oregon for 10 years, where I got my BA in philosophy at Oregon State University. I believe in working hard and showing the children (any age) around you that being respectful, polite, and punctual is a top priority for success.
Management Assistant to the Principal
Elizabeth Switek became the LBJ/LASA librarian in March 2020 after being the librarian at Austin Discovery School for the past fifteen years. Ms. Switek has a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in Geology with a concentration in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology and a MS from the University of Minnesota in Archaeological Geology where she concentrated in the provenance of ceramics using microscopic and nuclear analysis. After moving to Texas and working in the field of cultural resource management she decided to go to library school at UT-Austin where her MLIS was in archives and records management. After working as the Lloyd Bentsen Archivist at UT and at SEMATECH, she had children and decided that she wanted to be working with students to help them develop the same inquisitive spirit that has always driven her. So she went back to UT to get her school certification. She’s now decided that’s enough school!
Ms. Switek is a proud mom of two LASA graduates and lives with her husband, epileptic chihuahua, an aloof cat, and four free-range chickens. She enjoys reading, running, gardening, knitting, cooking, and watching unenlightened tv. She was a globe-trotting Air Force brat and still loves to travel, particularly to Asia.
PEIMS Coord./Data Proc.
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and I came to Austin ISD from the private sector. I have 4 siblings, and I am very family oriented. I love to travel, write, and listen to music. Having no children of my own, working at LASA gives me the opportunity to connect with many students and include them as a part of my world. Welcome back, and I look forward to assisting you in the 2020-2021 school year!
Born and raised in Austin, TX.
Worked at LBJ High School before coming to LASA in 2011 and have been here ever since. I was Guidance Secretary when I first came to LASA and then graduated to Attendance Specialist in 2015.
In my down time I like to watch baseball, college football, boxing, soccer and UFC. I'm a huge Houston Astros and Longhorn fan. I workout with Camp Gladiator about 4-5 times a week. I love to travel, especially to the beach. I have seen the beaches of Cancun, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii and hopefully will get to see more beaches soon.
